Growing an avocado seed/pit? Super easy to grow with this space-ship-looking plastic disc to put on a cup or mason jar. 1. eat an avocado. 2. soak in water over night 3. carefully peel off the dark brown layer of the pit. 4. place pit in plastic bag with a damp paper towel. 5. Seal and place in a cabinet. 6. Change paper weekly - add a new damp towel. 7. When pit starts to sprout, place on this space-ship-looking disc over a mason jar filled with water. 8. fill water weekly (I never changed the water) - I also used empty coffee creamer bottles without the lids for other avocado pits. ** read up on growing avocado pits. You will most likely never grow an actual avocado. you need male and female plants and some bees to cross pollinate the plants. You can pot them with potting soil. Mine have enjoyed growing in the water near a window.

I bought this with visions of cultivating a nice little avocado tree. All I got was a grey saucer that did not float well and just rotted all the seeds I out in it. No directions, nothing to help you out. And for the price? Not worth it at all.

My Avocado still grew though. Cool!

This is a cool idea but not a very good execution. It doesn’t sit low enough in the water. I’ve tried it in several dishes, bowls, cups. I have to fill them all to the absolute brim in order for the seed to touch the water, which is then a spill hazard.Again, the idea is good but the product needed more R&D before being made.

I am not sure what I expected but I was really disappointed when I received this. I didn't realize you would still have to use something under this, like a bowl. It came wrapped in plastic with no box and no directions.

I was testing this item along with others to use with children.1. The whole is too small for 1/2 of the seed to be immersed.2. It isn't see-through and doesn't come with a base so you can't tell how much water is in your bowl.3. It isn't see-through so you can't tell with your seed begins to root.4. There are better choices available. I'm surprised that the seller presents this as a good way to germinate an avocado seed.5. This product is so fun. My kids and I are super excited to watch our avocado seed grow. We love plants and having them in the house. Hopefully someday we will have our own avocados! We love this growing bowl and definitely plan on using it again.

The product is nice but my avocado seeds are too large to fit in this smaller hole. The Hawaiian avocados are much bigger in size.
