Essential punk pop
Though they were part of the UK punk scene, Buzzcocks had a knack for catchy hooks and lovelorn lyrics to rival any power pop group -- especially on singles like "What Do I Get," "Ever Fallen in Love," "Promises" and "Everybody's Happy Nowadays." The original 'Singles Going Steady' did a great job of collecting these and other singles / B-sides from their first couple years on United Artists (1977-79). I'd say the additional tracks on the 2001 expanded reissue (which I recently received as an early birthday gift from my dad) -- including one more 1979 single ("You Say You Don't Love Me" b/w "Raison d'être") and six EP tracks from 1980 ('Part 1 - 3') -- are less consistent but offer more bang for your buck.~ Gena

All in all a very solid album
The album is loaded with some very good songs. I would recommend giving at least the following songs a listen: "Orgasm Addict", "What Do I Get", "Promises", "Harmony in my Head", Whatever Happened to ..." ," Oh S***", "Autonomy", and Something's Gone Wrong Again". I thought these were all very good songs, and as a result if you think as I do, you might be better off just buying the album. As far as any similar artist and album, I was reminded of The Ramones self titled album as I listened to it. You might as well consider listening to other songs as well on this album as their quality isn't far behind the ones I listed.

The Best of the Era.
I know this won't be a popular opinion, but IMHO The Buzzcocks were light years ahead of The Ramones. This album brings it all back.

Greatest Record Ever Released in the History of Mankind (one of them, anyway)
Don't need many words to describe this, as I probably agree with everyone who gave it 5 stars. As for sonic quality of this vs. previous release... this is better.Re: extra tracksThe original number, and sequence, of songs was perfect. The extras just get in the way imho. Except "You Say You Don't Love Me" which is up to the same standard as the rest of the songs on the original album, although I guess it didn't fit in with the original concept. So yea, buy this record, unless you don't like well-crafted, sophisticated 3 minute (mostly) songs. The songs that are longer than 3 minutes? They work, too.If you love this record (yes, I'm old enough to have bought the "record" when it was released) and your friend doesn't, drop that friend. This is more important.

great final addition
I had thought long and hard of what 70's-80's punk period group to add to my collection and decided on this and it was a great decision.

What do I get?....
The Buzzcocks had two-three great years 1977-1979 in which they produced three good albums and a succession of punk/new wave singles that were full of vitality, catchy hooks and often wry humour in the lyrics. Despite the late Pete Shelley's bleat of a voice, the songs were instantly recognisable and memorable. The voice really didn't matter and indeed in many ways it was part of the appeal.TRACK LISTING1. The highlights from the well-known singles are the iconic "Ever Fallen In Love", "Love You More", "Promises", "Everybody's Happy Nowadays", the amusing "Orgasm Addict" and the magnificent "What Do I Get?". Highly recommended.

have you ever fallen in love with
One of my all time favourite bands and this was always a brilliant compilation, this has been well remastered and if anything sounds better than my 1979 original copy which I bought from Virgin Records in Manchester (Remember them) my youth is flooding back into my memory, happy days indeed. well packaged and delivered on time.

Tatty
This product was meant to be in good condition, but it turned up very tatty with a broken case and one particular track on the CD that won't play due to damage.I am keeping the item because the rest plays fine, but I do feel it was not described correctly.

Buzzcocks Best
Bought this along with Kitchen.Repro LP cardboard cover. I know it's not very Eco but I like the Jewel cars. However, it won't be going in the car anymore as I rip all my stuff to USB nowadays. Cut the shrink wrap with a sharp knife, so the card has added protection. Great compact best of; if you only have one Buzzers album then I would recommend that it is this.
