AWESAFE GPS Navigation for Car 7 inch Touch Screen Car GPS Navigation System North America Lifetime Map Updates

Had a Garmin, but it died. So decide to save some money and got /this/ piece of crap:>Voice is to loud; no matter how many times I turned it down, it stayed speaker-buzzingly loud. This was particularly irritating when it was constantly (loudly) announcing I was over the speed limit (you can adjust this, but not turn it OFF).>Can’t tell time. Despite communicating with a fawkin’ satellite, I had to set the clock every time I turned it on. This also made ETAs unreliable.>No night mode. You can dim the screen, but the bright-ass, daytime colors still kill your night vision; this indirectly led me to wrecking my car.>Everything’s in kilometers - and you can’t change it. Granted, this is more of an annoyance than anything else, but I don’t live in crappy Europe. Also means it can’t display the local speed limit correctly.>Inputting an address is counter-intuitive and tedious. For example; you have to type in your country EVERY TIME (I guess it was made for people with supersonic, /flying/ cars, or... who live in crappy Europe). And don’t miss-type or miss a space or you’ll have to start over again.Don’t waste your time or money on this POS; get a Garmin.EDIT: Not gonna return this item - simply not worth the time or effort. Gonna use it as target practice; gonna put some .45 ACP through it 😏

The GPS works BUT it DOES NOT say street names so you will have to continue to look at the screen. It is not the most user friendly software and will take some time to setup. If you want to change the km to miles go to the main navigation menu, then click the settings icon (looks like a wrench and flat head screwdriver), scroll down and click regional, then click units and formats. In this area is where you can change units, time zone, and system language. One of my biggest issues with this product is that the clip that connects to the mount DOES NOT work. It will not lock in place. So you will not be able to use this device as described unless you have another mount or plan to buy one. I WOULD NOT recommend this GPS navigation system.**********UPDATE (12/7/19)**********I am updating my review from 1 star to 5 stars due to the company's great customer service. Not long after I posted my initial review I was contacted by the company to resolve the issue with my mount. They were very helpful and refunded me enough to purchase another mount they found that works perfectly with their navigation system. The mount is by OHLPRO model: TQ80+p1. You can actually swaps out the suction base and use the one that came with navigation system if you don't like dashboard suction base that comes with OHLPRO mount.

Today's date is 12/1/2019 .... 36 review of this and 81% gave it 5 STAR. Was impressed with it. Got my first one, USB cord were defective. However, I managed to use GPS twice. Took some getting used to. Because I purchased FOUR different GARMIN over 11 years. Always satisfied till the last one, GARMIN DRIVE SMART 50LMT just went haywire. I had that one for less than a year. Like I said AWESAFE GPS took abit of time getting used to its features. I think they have more features than what is really needed. Who need music on their GPS? Isnt car radio (CD player) enough? Wasnt too crazy about the KNOBS. Difficult adjusting knobs. I place them on the windshield. RAther awkard set up. Adjustment of knobs is needed due to glare/reflection from the sun. REturned the first GPS and got a replacement. Clearly, quality management is not an option. Found that I couldnt click/attach SUCTION CUP BRACKET to CLIP HOLDER. I realized molding were not set up correctly. With the first GPS, I had no problem getting these two connected and snapped in place. Found there is two different setting to set up local time. Will I get a third one? If price doesnt change, I will. This time, I will wait abit and hope I get another AWESAFE GPS with NO DEFECTIVES. Why 3 stars, GPS works fairly well. That itself gets 5 star but with issues and unneeded added features, knock 2 stars off.

Outperforms 2 previous gps'. Nice intuitive 3d view has 5 level adjustment. Not perfect, couple times it would not accept local addresses I have been to. Can't wait to travel with it though. My one BIG complaint is the washed out color, especially daytime, causing dangerously long glances at map while driving. Also nighttime glare from device off windshield is also a problem in my car. ( 2 previous gps never had problem with glare ~ day or night same car)If I buy or make a glare shade and it helps I will update with good news cause I really like this device. Spoke to rep about faded color, said they know issue, expect improvement next model.

The company has been very helpful with any questions I have. It works very well and better than my phone that kept loosing my GPS signal. The only problem is a couple of times I got slightly lost because it didn't recognize where I was going (it wasn't in the system). Though this can happen many times when GPS in general (not just this device) doesn't recognize a place. Also the interface is much different than when I was using my phone app, though once I got used to it there hasn't been an issue. Overall I'm happy with my purchase.

I am usually very anxious about ordering electronics online due to possible malfunctions or just not functioning at all. I took a gamble on this device because I was going on a trip and was very happy to see that it not only worked but it did a fantastic job guiding me through a 4-5 hour trip over state lines. It's very easy to use and the instruction manual is very straight forward. I was also delighted to see the extra features such as the ability to download music and movies on the device. I waited a couple of weeks to write a review to make sure that it didn't glitch out or stop working. There was an instant where it wouldn't turn on but all I had to do was hit the reset button and it worked fine without deleting any of my map data. If you're shopping for a GPS device and are wary of the vast market, I recommend this one as it is very dependable and even works in rural areas.
