(2016 Update) Rapid Fire PRO External Flash Battery Pack for NIKON by Altura Photo (SD-9 Replacement Compatible with Nikon Flash SB-900, SB910 & SB-5000 AF Speedlight, APN-958X)

It does everything I need it to do. Plenty of power, recycles very fast, and gives me a very secure feeling that I can get all the shots I need to get. Lots of flash power even in dim rooms. It is priced right to boot. I'm very satisfied with this purchase.

The external flash battery pack works exactly like it should. Be sure it works on YOUR flash. This fits a couple different Nikon flashes but not all of them. I did have a problem with the strain relief where the cable connects to the battery box but one email to customer service resulted in fast and outstanding resolution. I'd give this thing 4 stars because of the problem with it, but the excellent customer service made up for it.

***This battery pack is fantastic and probably the best you can get for the price, but due to my personal experience with it I can only give it 2-3 stars. Experience explained below.***This battery pack does exactly what it was designed to do, but unfortunately it seems like this pack only works with the flashes that it says it is compatible with, at least that is what I assume. I had purchased this to use with my Neewer NW910 and Neewer NW660III flashes (for Nikon) and it worked wonderfully at first. Unfortunately for me, I came to find out the hard way that this battery pack is not compatible at all with those two flashes even though the plug fits the ports.I had tested using my flashes with the battery pack at home prior to a gig I had and they seemed to work perfectly fine; however, after using it with one of my flashes for a little bit the during the gig the flash suddenly stopped working. The flashes would still power on, but they would not emit any flashes. At first I assumed they just overheated or something and needed a break to cool down, so I grabbed my second flash unit to use and the exact same thing happened. (Note that I have used the flashes with a different battery pack before under more strenuous conditions and they still performed wonderfully for hours on end with no issues)I left the flashes alone for a couple of days hoping that they just needed a long while to properly cool down, but even after a couple of days that flashes wouldn't flash. They turn on, but no flash. I can only assume, without tearing the flashes apart, that the battery pack blew the flash bulbs :( Now I am down two flashes and need to shell out more money to get new ones.The takeaway from this is that Altura makes a quality battery pack, and I should have listened to the "Compatibility List" that Altura provided. I had assumed it was just a general compatibility list like with other cheap products on Amazon but Altura clearly knows what they're doing.

Connected it to my flash and it came on, little red light shows you its active. Took a few pictures and there was no wait time for flash. Would advise purchasing this for your Nikon 910 flash.

This battery pack seems to work very well. However, it suffers from one fatal flaw - it uses an 'intermediate' dongle to connect your particular brand flash to the unit itself. This allows the same unit to be used with different flash connectors if you swap out the connecting cord. The big problem is that if you LOSE this cable, it's all over. The unit is completely useless as I cannot find any of these connecting cables sold separately and there is zero support for this product. If you use this professionally, this part will probably go missing at some point as accidents happen. When it does, you will pretty much have to buy a new unit.**update** I jumped the gun when I said Altra service was poor. I ended up contacting them through their website at[...]and they are shipping me a replacement cable for free. That's pretty stellar service since it was never their fault I lost it. I would recommend taping the connectors together with gaffer tape to prevent them from accidentally separating if you use regularly. This way you are unlikely to lose one

Really easy to use and uses any type of batteries and extend the flashing time almost triple.Used it in few weddings and last me over 1500 pictures in the 8 hours of working.great.

Highly recommend. I already have one from Nikon and these hold up just as well. Look almost identical to the Nikon. great seller & great service.

I have been using this battery pack for just over a year and the cord that attaches to the flash is coming apart and are visible, I have been using electrical tape but the wiring is coming apart. its just a matter of time before the wire will snap in half. Need help for service or replacement. Please advise.
