This was straightforward to install. I'm going to be frank: the reviewers that say "Oh the wiring is reverse and it stays on all the time when wired as directed" didn't install it correctly. You've got the acessory on/off connected to an always-hot fuse location, perhaps based on an (incorrect) assumption that the fuse you chose is switched. I experienced this exact scenario, the accessory fuse I was wiring into was on/off rather than always on despite the outlet it feeds turning off with the vehicle.It wasn't until I pulled out the multimeter and verified, that I realized my accessory circuit has additional relays and wiring that shut off the accessory outlet directly with the vehicle, but the fuse that feeds that circuit remains hot. For those who wire this up and it stays on all the time: check your fuses with a multimeter, and don't assume the fuse is cold because the thing it feeds turns off with the vehicle. Additionally, you need to know which side of the fuse connection is the hot side, and plug your wiring in appropriately, with the side of the connector without the wire connecting to the hot side of the fuse.It's really quite easy to do this wrong, and end up with a camera that either never turns on, stays on all the time, or shuts off even though you have parking mode enabled. Get a multimeter, verify your circuits, hook the fuse splice up in the right direction, and it'll likely work for you as intended.

This not a review of the product, it works as intended. I purchased it for use in my Maverick. After completing some errands I parked at about 3:30 pm on 18 April. At about 11:15 am on 21 April I received a notification that stated my truck had gone into a power save mode. If your vehicle does not provide such notifications you can end up with a dead battery.

After 3 installs, this doesn't get any easy... Installed on my other Vehicle and it requires to mental Faculties... 1.) Patience and 2.) Determination... It takes about an hour to install on a Suburban with lots of room... The smaller vehicles I just can't imagine it... Even so, this is so much better than the Cigarette lighter to power, and adds security to having the unit come up when Jared as if someone hits your vehicle... I really like this unit and it will save you... I will never go with out a REXING Dash Cam!... Got into an accident that the other person caused... He lied to the cops and I hit him in the rear after he pulled in front of me and slammed on the breaks... Not only did he have to pay for all of my Damage, the insurance did not pay any of his damage (read most policies, if you lie to an officer, you can lose your insurance). He not only did not get covered but got canceled to boot... Also having to answer to a Judge as to why he lied to an officer with Dash Cam footage in the court room! Also, your Dashcam footage CANNOT be used against you in a court of law, but you can use it against someone else in a Court of Law.

Junk. Video quality sucks and it's won't recognize that it's powered by rexings "smart hardwired kit". Won't go into parking mode, just tells you that you need a hardwire kit. Contacted rexing and all they want to do is ask me ten different ways how I tested parking mode. I tested it by installing the correct parts that do not function correctly. And the unit continues to not recognize the kit. Just don't waste your money, I bought 2 different Redtiger cams and have been thrilled with them in comparison. Shame on you Rexing

Good buy to hardwire my dash cam. Comes with everything needed to permanently install the camera, plus was very easy to install. Much better than using the accessory plug installation method.11/4/24 Quit working. Suspect a short in the wiring because I can't get continuity. Plugs and fuses are OK. Went back to the accessory plug wiring which works fine.

Great product - easy install - very discreet above the mirror. I like the fact I can choose to turn off the loop recording which turns it into GoPro like functionality for recording the entire length of a drive when I want this option - otherwise it stays in the 3 minute loop recording. If you don’t want the screen on all the time (default), use the screen saver setting.
