Where I've hung them they get 4-5 hours of sunlight. But that is not enough to make them glow very brightly. And it's disappointing to realize that they don't come on until it's really dark outside - so in the summer that's as late as 10pm, and when we've already gone back indoors. And they only brighten for a couple of hours! But they are cheap and still pretty. I have another type of solar lantern that I paid 3 times as much for, and it's that much better - always bright even after several cloudy days, and comes on much sooner and stays bright all night long. You get what you pay for!!!

I bought these in May, but wasn't able to put them in my trees until the end of Sept. I followed the directions for first time use to the letter. In the 5 weeks the lanterns have been up, we sometimes have as few as 2 lighting up out of the 14 I ordered and put up. We have no street lights in our area, and the moon is not full on the nights the lanterns aren't lighting. I can't figure out what could be wrong. We do have one that has never worked, which I took down yesterday to examine. It's turned on, I checked the battery, I placed the lantern in the direct sun, and it's still not working. I did notice that after only 5 weeks there are already small tears in the fabric. We have had lanterns made by another company (no longer available) in our trees for the past 3 years and never had this problem. Putting these in our trees entails using a very tall ladder, and lots of hard work. I am not looking forward to removing them!

My order was messed up to begin with, Helios gracefully fixed it, however, now, the nylon is coming out of the top cap and I've had these a little over a week.

These lights were purchased to replace similar lanterns. They have worked out well and look great. My only observation is that the plastic rods (2) used to stabilize the globe look funny at night. My older ones didn't have these; but were slightly smaller. Otherwise very satisfied with your product!

This is a very nice solar lantern, good size, the color is vivid just right to give the backyard an uplift. I'm very glad I chose it.
