SureFlapMicrochip Cat Flap Mounting Adaptor

Its easy to install but I also used the frame adapter which is sold separately. You dont need the adapter but it looks nicer. I bought two and attached them to 112 qt totes (homz 18.25h x 16inw x 27.75d) to create food capsules for my cats. One of our cats is on a prescription diet and has to eat z/d hills diet. The other we feed regular cat food. We also still wanted to be able to use our automatic feeders, so this setup worked perfectly. However, it is cheaper to buy from their website directly. They mark up the prices on amazon.

I have two Siamese both of whom have very independent natures (surprise!)They used to sleep in a cage - same cage that they were used to at the Rescue place as kittens. After a while the female would not go in until we had indulged in 45 minutes of hide & seek. Then the other (The male)decided to do the same, but didn't want to be caged after it. The cage went and I had to get out of bed at 3:00am to let them out. A cat flap was the answer and the Sure Flap the obvious answer, being that it operates with the rfid chip. It is a beautifully designed and made unit and took me 3/4 days to fit through a wall - no doors available. However,the cats are now 18 months old and very suspicious and after three weeks I still haven't managed to persuade them to try it. Whether it is the flashing red light or the size of the opening I don't know, but we soldier on. I will write again if/when I manage to persuade them that my night's sleep is more important than their prima donna attitude. I would imagine that fitting and trying the Sure Flap when they are younger and more susceptible to suggestion would be the best way to go. I am sure that Pickle (the male) is almost offended that I have the temerity to think that his physique could possible fit through that opening. Even with me holding him on the outside and my wife on the inside making a noise like a bowl of cream was no inducement. Stupid cat!Incidentally, the adaptor plates come two to a box, which I don't think is mentioned. I wanted two and so ordered, but I got two boxes each containing two plates, so now I have two extra. Not cheap.

I ordered this cat door thinking it would be an easy swap with my existing one. Long story short, we ended up getting a whole new door because of the fit of this door. After we went to the expense of a new door and installed this cat door....WE LOVE IT!!! It works like a charm. It only took my cat two days or so to get the hang of it. Whereas he could bust through the old door easily, this one required him to stick his head in pretty far just to unlock it. But once we trained him using treats, he figured it out. I recommend this. We had intruder cats coming inside and hopefully the problem is now solved!!!!

Returned because it was implied this piece was likely necessary for the cat door to function properly when installed in a metal door. It was not needed at all.

We mounted this to our external garage door and it was super easy!

Works as advertized, my cats are using it well. Only thing, I don't think suggestion on mounting height from floor level was included. It's a small door, so I think putting the bottom of the door at the height of the cat's belly works best. I was installing into a wall, with a 8 inch tunnel passage. I'd used another cat flap on the exterior which was larger, so I had to block off part of that hole in order to install this on the inside surface. I used the mounting adaptor (for glass and wall installation) which worked well.

Love this cat door. It has completely eliminated the problem of unwanted cats coming into the house. Only my two microchipped cats can come into the house. I had been struggling with cat urine odor because my cats were spraying in response to intruder cats. That problem is solved by having the Cat Flap. Customer Service is outstanding! I had an issue (caused by me) My questions were immediately answered. It is worth the cost.

I purchased this, just in case I needed it when converting my old cat door to the new SureFlap. It wasn't necessary. I am glad I purchased it. Cleaning the cat door area is quick and easy now. It gives a nice finished look to the door.
