My New Gender Workbook

Not bad, not bad at all.
It is interesting to examine your gender when one is cis gendered. While I wasn't able to find myself in all of the exercises I don't think the workbook is for me specifically. There is so much privilege attached to being born in the body I felt I always belonged in and she crafts that in her questions. I'm curious about what the gender fluid public think about it. I hope it inspires everybody to find their happy.

"A Big Ball of Wibbly Wobbly Gender-y Blendery Stuff"
Kate Bornstein is a living legend, so it goes without saying that this book is fantastic. But 'My New Gender Workbook' truly goes beyond other gender theory texts available currently in extremely creative ways. Instead of placing the focus on those who transgress binary gender, Bornstein asks cisgender/gender-conforming readers to examine how and why they came to this identity, and how they have gone their whole lives without critically questioning and exploring such a central aspect of their being. The workbook is interactive, keeping the reader engaged, and is filled with challenges and philosophical questions to take on when not reading (think of it like a grown-up truth or dare, only now you're asked to be true to yourself). The book is lighthearted and approachable, regardless of age or knowledge of gender theory. Anyone exploring their gender identity, or having difficulty understanding a nonbinary concept of gender, would likely get a great deal from this book.

Helpful, fun and informative guide to exploring your gender
What an awesome book! I have been questioning, and this book took me through the discovery process in a fun and helpful way. The author is a bit irreverent, but to me that adds to the appeal. And I'm 67 years old!

Read with open mind!
We used this book in my English class. When I first saw the title, I didn't think it was appropriate for the class, but decided that I would enter into this quarter with an open mind. Needless to say, this book was very educational for me. Not about myself, but about learning about the different gender types.

I want to love this book.
I wanted so much to like this book, really I did. Not bad, but very repetitive without making it's point clearly. Got more help from a website which said "If you are thinking you are gender dysphoric, you probably are."Main positive: De-constructing the binary. Brilliant, straight forward (giggle) and to the point. Thank you from the bottom of my soul for that, it is the whole reason for the stars this book gets.Main negative: Too much pressure sell once the binary was de-constructed. I got it, now give me some hints on how to use it instead of trying to resell me on the non-existent binary.

a good brainstorming tool and understanding tool for trans people
This book helped me decide if I was trans and if I wanted to transition. I'm now 10 months on T and so happy and secure in my identity, and this book helped get me here.

A wonderful book for thinking about gender
This book helped me to solve lingering doubts about my identity. It does a great job walking you through a complex and nebulous topic in a way that makes sense and feels really practical and uplifiting.

This book has been a joy to go through
This book has been a joy to go through. The author has done a great job keeping the book light hearted while helping the reader take a deeper look at their gender identities. I recommend this book for anyone who is open minded. Even if you already have a good idea of you gender, this is still good book to read for both taking a second look at your gender, but also in how positive it is, towards all kinds of gender.

My New Gender Workbook:
Great book, covers transgender topics very well, but more in "summarized form." Lots of graphics and pictures to hold the interest of someone who does not read a lot for information or pleasure. Would be great for teens.
