Detecto #439 Physician Scale

Am a retired physician, used to have one of these in my office for years. Simple, basic, a two beam balance scale. Doesn't need batteries, is as accurate as you need, and can be used for several lifetimes. A basic product that is worth the price if you have a condition where your weight is critical or if you just want a good scale with a consistent ability to weigh you. Mount it on a flat level surface.

Easy to set up. Consistent weight. Unlike some other dial or digital scales I’ve owned, always produces the same weight over multiple measurements across a short period of time. No batteries to replace, no electronics to break. Just remember to check the zero, occasionally.

Spent hours as it looks & sounds easy, but putting hook on rod very hard , they should have a string attached to hook so u vacant pull it forward as getting your hands in to grab hook & attach is not easy . The scale was not weighing properly(off 5#} so I had to go under bottom & play with everything & reattached hook again as it fell off & finally it’s working. 2 plus hours of work. The measure rod is bent, cannot straighten. Would love to get new rod? Sorry I bought this scale as not the same as other Detecto scales that I own for 20 years quality sucks. How do I return or am I out $200

It's a Detecto. Easy to set up. Easy to use.

This was difficult to assemble and the booklet/instructions are terrible. Pictures aren’t helpful. The small weight slide sticks, and because the instructions are terrible, I’m not sure if I missed a step to make it actually specific/precise to weight. Also the washers got lost in the packing, and I only found half of what I expected.

Easy to assemble . I have three of these scales and like all of them.

More accurate than the cheep digital ones
