Contemplative Hope
This journal was written by one of the monks of Tibhirine, a Trappist monastery in Algeria. He, along with six others of his community, were taken hostage and beheaded. This journal shows the power of unconditional love. Its author struggled just like all of us, but he kept returning to love, both of God and neighbor. This book is very much needed in this time when we so often ostracize those we don't understand. It holds out hope in the most trying of circumstances.

A Spiritual Journal of Love and Prayer
Father Christophe, the Abbot of the Monastery of Tibhirine in Algeria. shares his spiritual journey from 1993-1996. I use the book as a book of prayer. I stop when I read some passages, and just close my eyes and meditate.

wonderful and poetic
Beautiful and poetic, this translation of Bro. Christopher's journal shares a deep spirituality of interfaith love and life. I highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in the spirituality of shared religious experience.

See book review by Lawrence S. Cunningham in Commonweal on January 23, 2015:"Some books are read first for instruction and then a second or third time for nourishment; this is such a book..."From the Abbott / author himself: "You have received everything as pure gift / Give everything as pure gift / That is what it means to consent / completely and simply to the Gift."
