good healthy breakfast, east to cook,
Bring 1 1/2 cup of water, 1/2 cup barley flakes and a pinch of salt to a full boil. Stir, reduce heat to a fast simmer and cook uncovered for 12-15 minutes, stirring once or twice. Cover and remove from heat.Toasting the flakes over med-high heat until lightly browned and fragrant adds a nice nutty flavor.

What a tasty whole grain!
Barley is a very tasty grain, but since it is almost impossible to find the whole grain in supermarkets I haven't been using it in years. What you almost always see is "pearled" or "pearl" barley. Think of the difference between brown rice and white rice. Pearl Barley is the equivalent of white rice. Hulled, or hulless Barley is the equivalent of brown rice. It has all the nutritional goodness plus, because it is digested so much more slowly in our bodies, it is great for dieters and people watching their carbs because of diabetes. But to add to all these benefits, hulless barley has a wonderful nutty taste and a nice texture that can be chewy or -- cooked more -- soft through but still holds its shape. It is great in soups, salads, as a side dish or a center of the plate dish. Try it!

mold and is non-returnable
The media could not be loaded. I have been buying these for a while. One of my favorite simple meals. This time, however, both packs arrived and the flakes are blue-grey. Now I have to try and fight with the support which is such a waist of time.

Great product. Ordered many times, twice though I received discolored/moldy looking product. That's why I gave 4 stars, the Barley when not a bad batch, is a five star product, that I do love. They do not accept returns, so I have had to call Amazon, to be refunded. I hoping to get the attention of this company, to better check the product before shipping.

Tender but crunchy
What a wonderful surprise to bite down on the flake and have it be both tender and crunchy. These flakes have been a welcome addition to my granola recipe! They are first class, no hulls or waste !
