Very good with minor issues.
The Mrs was complaining about the garage door being constantly unlocked and I was tired of getting locked out by the Mrs and having to carry keys to get back into the house so I started to look into passcode entry lock systems like I have here at work. Then I saw this item. I must say that I was rather shocked initially by the cost of this item as compared to what I thought a biometric entry lock would cost but the thought of always having the "key" on me was worth the investment. It has been installed and let me say, I am impressed as it does what it claims to do and very well! I go out, the door locks, I use my "key" door handle engages, I come back in. I also like that there are three different ways to engage the door. 1. Biometric 2. PIN 3. Key AND a way to apply emergency power to it if for some odd reason you decided let the batteries die (PS it gives you fair warning that the batteries are dying BTW.). I was replacing an existing doorknob/lock assembly so there was no major drilling (more later) so installation went fairly smooth. Programming it was "interesting" but not difficult (more later as well). So lets get into the "issues."1. Installation guide: How do I put this. It's in "Engrish" so unless you read Mandarin, I HIGHLY suggest that you have a seat, and THOROUGHLY read and scribble on the installation guide notes before you bust out the tools. There is a 1:1 hole cutting/drilling guide on the installation guide so cut it out. But be aware, you will see two of them one on the front and one on the back. This is for right and left side mounting. Most door replacements are already good. Just need the template to drill one 3/8" hole.2. Supplied tools: You will get a box with installation tools (Screwdriver, rasp, some weird drill bit). Just throw them in the recycle bin. Not even worth opening up.3. Installation. Pretty straight forward. Oh, dont overtighten the assembly screws. Snug is fine. they will strip. Trust me!4. Batteries: Not supplied. Spring for lithium. You will need 4 AA's5. Emergency 9v battery. All it says in the "Engrish" users guide is "be aware of the polarity". It wont tell you or show you what it is and nowhere on the lock itself is it marked. so its a 50/50 chance. For the record its "+" to the right. And its really klunky to do that method.6. PIN: its 11 numbers (cannot start with 0) so write it down and test it! Easy to re-program but still.8. Master user. If you enter more than one Master user or more than one master finger, you may not get it to work. Why? because it fails to tell you that you need to use the first "master" finger to enter the second finger. Then after the second one, any master finger will work. Oh, test it!9. Regular users: After you enter one, TEST IT! Common sense but still. Test it! And enter more than one. (one on the left one on the right. just incase you have hands full or cut a finger etc.)10. Deleting users/master user. its not selective. If you delete temporary users, all of them are deleted. If you delete regular users, all regular users are deleted. If you delete the master group. EVERYTHING is wiped out and it goes back to default.I guess thats about it. The door lock works very well, our household is QUICKLY getting used to not having to use a traditional key to get in from the garage and with the minor issues noted, Its a great buy.

Does what it says but takes a while for a DIY install
We like this electronic biometric door lock but **** Read the other reviews before you try to install this product. Each installer's experience will be slightly different but some installation issues are consistent. The product itself works as advertised. My mother taught me that "A lock is for a honest man." I asked her why she said that. She said her mother, born in the 1800's taught it to her in southern drawl: "A honest main will think before breaking a lock, but a crooked main will find a way to break any lock." Translated this says "An honest man will think a while before deciding if he will commit a crime by breaking into something that is locked, but a thief spends his/her time studying how to break any lock." She also used to say, "A lock will keep a good man honest." This lock keeps someone from simply walking into your home - which has happened in the USA.The must be installed high enough so a toddler cannot reach it - its really easy to open from the inside - a feature we like, but is also not safe for homes with toddlers just learning to reach up. This also has happened in the USA - sadly and with a sad ending. For busy families or busy companies this door lock is a good choice. It will at least slow down an intruder. You will still need a thief deterrent deadbolt - your locksmith will know the better choices. We gave the Adel 3398 Keyless Biometric Fingerprint Door knob 6 stars because it does what it says it will do, is study, and it is handicap accessible. This electronic door knob does what it says it will do and does it well.Cons: Installing this product is a different story. This is rated a 2 star for the install. You are given a weird drill bit that does not work at all and is a waste of resources. We have a deadbolt. This lock is tall and cut off part of the deadbolt. This lock is not DIY friendly. If you can afford to hire a locksmith, its worth the money to pay for the labor. Now we have to figure out what to do with the deadbolt gaping hole.We suspect this product would be okay for new or only one existing hole. The install takes between 2 and 3 hours on an outside door and right now its about 101 degrees in the shade in high humidity. Once you install one of these electronic door locks, the next time goes much easier. We like the features of this product and believe it would be less of a problem on just an office or bedroom door. We required the use of a Dremel Tool specifically the sander to make the product align better. We also needed a super large drill bit, extension cord, the Dremel Tool, and Watermelon (like I said, its 101 with high humidity.)Someone recommended sitting down to make notes on the instructions and that reviewer was absolutely correct. This is not an easy install for people who normally do not install door latches. Two of the screws were too long and could not be used.Pros:All the different ways to unlock the door in case the biometric does not work. But because there are several ways to unlock the door, one must wonder about security when faced with a determined intruders who knows how to pick a lock. If it has a keylock, it can be picked. The door locks automatically and quickly once the door is shut. We have not tried passive mode. The external material appears metal, is heavy, and feels solid.I hope this review was helpful and added a smile to your day.

Works, but one major and several minor design flaws
The lock is heavy and sturdy. The fingerprint reader is set at default to open with any fingerprint until programmed by the user, to prevent user lockout during initial installation. Programming the fingerprint and new pin # was easy. However, there is one major and several minor design flaws, as follows: 1. If you are buying this to replace an existing entry lockset with deadbolt with standard distance between the locks ( about 5") then this won't fit. It is about 1/4" too long. 2. You have to drill an additional small hole in addition to the existing hole for your lockset. 3. The pin # can only be 11 digits long: no more, no less. 4. You can use a 9v. battery as an emergency backup to power up and open the door, but who carries a spare 9v. battery around with them all the time? 5. If using the key to open the lock, you first have to remove the set screw for the handle with the hex wrench (supplied) exposing the key opening. Again, who carries around a hex wrench with them in case of emergencies? It would have been better if this was designed with the key opening exposed through the handle, like the Scyan biometric door lock. If you are buying this for a new install, then it is workable. Just increase the distance between the deadbolt and this lock to about 6". Also, they include a second latch for some reason and a tool kit. Would have preferred that they eliminate those and reduce the price, since most American homeowners already have a hammer, Phillips screwdriver, and drill bit. Hopefully Adel can correct these flaws in their next model.Edit: There is a workaround for the overlap problem: switch the entry lockset hole with the deadbolt hole (i.e. put this lock in the upper hole and move the deadbolt to the lower hole). Looks unprofessional but at least it's usable.
